    <description>One way out could be...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;from your big X display type &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;CTRL&gt;&lt;F1&gt; or &lt;CTRL&gt;&lt;F2&gt; on the system console keybaord &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then login as root and from there type&lt;BR /&gt;#init 3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#! this normaly put to in level 3 (no xdm applic and network started, so automatic X start)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;from there you can run modify adapt run again your X configuration .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;start x by-hand typing startx ... etc.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you want level 3 as default level for next reboot modify the following line in /etc/inittab&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;id:5:initdefault:&lt;BR /&gt;to &lt;BR /&gt;id:3:initdefault:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I f want to keep level 5 as default just invoke level 5 at the root prompt like&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# init 5&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This will should start X (xdm) for you and prompt you for username/passwrd &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;J-P&lt;/F2&gt;&lt;/CTRL&gt;&lt;/F1&gt;&lt;/CTRL&gt;</description>

      <description>I have installed RedHat Advanced server 7.2 in IBM Machine. During the installation i selected the wrong monitor type. Now iam not able to enter init level 5.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My monitor type is S3incoporated Triod 3D.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When i use Xconfigurator. iam getting the display very big.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kindly help.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks in advance.&lt;BR /&gt;Jagadesh</description>

      <description>Sorry, I should be more carefull I am typing to fast.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As I reread my previous answer, I notice errors&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It should read&lt;BR /&gt;#! this normaly put you in level 3 (no xdm, applic and network are started, so X does not start automaticaly) &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;not &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#! this normaly put to in level 3 (no xdm applic and network started, so automatic X start) &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;J-P</description>
