Shalom Albert,

With the device attached, boot your system off the FC5 DVD or CD.

Run the installation, specifying the device as where you wish to install.

Your real issue here is that Windows does not support (easily) booting a Linux partition.

To pull this off you will need to use grub boot manager as your boot manager for windows. That will necessitate always having this USB device attached, or creating a parition on local disk large enough to hold grub.

You can resize your winows parition with knoppix or other cd based distribution like:
http://systemrescuecd.org/

SEP

Your usb drive may not have enough size or speed to hold the whole linux installation. I never tried to install on a usb disk.

You could use a virtual machine software to install linux.

Just start linux installation and choose your USB drive for creating linux partitions. You'll probably see two disks - "hda" and "sda" into disk partitioning screen. "sda" is your USB drive.
