I am reciving a thousand of mail's whit the following messege " Subject: Warning: could not send message for past 4 hours
Sent: 6/27/2006 8:06 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

"7/2/2006 9:09 PM
Could not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator.
SMTP; 450 4.2.0 temporary file: File too large>"

Any help .. How can i stop this .. I already erase de spool .. stop the service sendmail and restart and could not resolv the problem. I continue to receive constantly the mail messege ..

Shalom,

It means: you have a file sizelimit built into sendmail.cf

You can increase the limit.

Thanks but i already do that !! .. But it seems that is not a limitacion of size of the mail .. Its a bigger problem :( .. Thanks anyaway by the tip ..

I don't think it's a size restriction problem, because it should be rejected in that case, not queued.

I think that the mail file is too large so the mailq reports that, and cannot be delivered to the mail destination. Can you post the ouput of "mailq -v".

Check your /var/spool/clientmqueue /var/spool/mqueue.

Other helpelly information is that when I disactivate de crontab of the user that it appears on the messege .. I stop to reciving the mails !! stranger :( ..

The user has a crontab entry that creates a
file to large for the server it is destined
for. Check the spool area to see what he
is sending. Look for large files, likely
several of nearly the same size.

Increasing the size on your server will only
make the problem worse. Consider lowering
the size on your server.

Problem may be temporary if the file passes
the server's size limits, but the disk is full.

Talk to the user.

You receive these messages as administrator
as you need to be aware of such problems.
