topic Red Hat Release and test information in Operating System - Linux

I am creating this long term thread for the purpose of updating Red Hat and Red Hat clone release information.

Its not going to be a high point thread, its informational, not seeking a soluion.

RH 4 update 4 initial test results.

Cold installation works normally, no normal features seem to work.

Upgraded a RH4 update 3 ES system with LVM configuration. This system could not activate the volume group or complete boot.

This is a serious flaw and I recommend avoiding the upgrade feature on this release with LVM configurations.

Kickstart does not appear to have the ability to set up LVM machines using the system-config-kickstart gui. This feature seems to be lacking in other releases as well.

Point rules:
1 point per post, 2 if there is a startling revelation. I as always am omniscient and can change to rules any time I wish.

SEP

I could add some stuff from the HP-OSLO test lab, but I think my bosses would whack me if I do so. I'll have to check 1st.

The point of this post is to make admins aware. Please try and sell this concept to your bosses. I'm going to file a bugzilla request on my findings.

I am very disappointed in the LVM upgrade support.

SEP
