1. Its a SATA HDD on this laptop
2. During install HDD is not detected

What version of Linux do you install?
You can convert (as workaround) the disk to "legacy" in bios and it'll work.

If you don't need RHEL for a specific reason, try Ubuntu linux instead. I haven't used it on your particular model, but it's incredibly easy to install, use and maintain, and it should install on your SATA drive without giving you headaches.

The standard Ubuntu release includes Gnome. If you prefer KDE, download the Kubuntu installation disk.

Hi,

I downloaded and cerated ubutu iso onto a CD.
But the unit does not boot from the CD at all.

Please help.

Created bootable unbutu CD - no go am not able to install linux.

Contacted hp - no go!

Any help would be great.
