According to RH9 Release Notes You have enough memory to install RH9.

Memory:

- Minimum for text-mode: 64MB
- Minimum for graphical: 128MB
- Recommended for graphical: 192MB

Source:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/release-notes/x86/

You can try to perform the installation using text mode.

Regards,
Sergejs.

A lot of older systems don't have contiguous memory and aren't detected properly. Check out http://www.cpqlinux.com/memory.html for some methods of specifying memory for your install...

Seems your Compaq Proliant has a very old chipset-enforced "Memory Hole".

You can try to upgrade your firmware.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/7548.html

I had the same problem, and I also warn you that the performance is very poor. I installed RH9 by using the following boot parameters during installation:

linux mem=exactmap mem=640K@0 mem=162M@1M

Look, I don't know if this is the exact parameter, but you should investigate more on the exactmap option.

Install in text mode, use linux text mem=....

To do that, after installation, you can play with the video configuration.

See also:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/helptips.do?#28
