    <description>as odd as it sounds... I swap the RAM around from one bank to a different one, and its work fine since.  I'm wondering if bank 0 is faulty on the mother board, since bank 1 and 2 work fine.  Thanks for the lead.  It cured a three day headache.</description>

      <title>INSTALL Issues, Vectra, P2 333</title>

      <description>System specs are as follows:&lt;BR /&gt;Processor: Pentium 2 333 SLk62&lt;BR /&gt;RAM: Paired SD-RAM 128 Sticks (both test good)&lt;BR /&gt;Video: Off Board ATI Rage II+&lt;BR /&gt;Sound: On Board&lt;BR /&gt;NIC: EtherFast 10/100BaseT&lt;BR /&gt;HDD: Western Digital 20G&lt;BR /&gt;CD-Rom: Generic Lite-On 32x CDROM&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Problems persist with the Installation of the&lt;BR /&gt;various flavors of my favorite Linuxes.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Slackware 9.0 (CD Boot ISO):&lt;BR /&gt;Installation Crashes Near end of Kernel Loading.&lt;BR /&gt;"Invalid Operand: 0000" (Can't remember the rest of the error)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sourcerer Linux (2.4.62 Kernel):&lt;BR /&gt;Crashes on Clean Up of ISO Transfer&lt;BR /&gt;Similar error to above.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Mandrake 8.0, 9.0, 9.2, 10.0:&lt;BR /&gt;Crashes During Kernel Load. Same error as&lt;BR /&gt;Slackware 9.0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;RedHat Shrike (8.0 I think):&lt;BR /&gt;Crashes durning Installation initialization.&lt;BR /&gt;Error is as follows:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Invalid Operand: 0000&lt;BR /&gt;CPU: 0&lt;BR /&gt;EIP: 0060:&amp;lt;[c0134e0a]&amp;gt;   Not Tainted&lt;BR /&gt;EFLAGS: 00010282&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;EIP is at:  (2.4.20-8BOOT)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;MEMORY addresses=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Process linuxrc (pid: 13 stackpage=cffd3000)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;STACK adresses=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;MEMORY adresses=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;VFS: cannot open root device "" or 48:05&lt;BR /&gt;Please Append a correct "root=" boot option&lt;BR /&gt;Kernel Panic! System Halted!   &amp;lt;--Flashing&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The messages for the other errors are similar to the above, save the bottem lines are a little different.&lt;BR /&gt;Some say Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root filesystem&lt;BR /&gt;other says Kernel Panic: Operation Not supported&lt;BR /&gt;Another Said Kernel Panic: &lt;GIBERISH followed="" by="" a="" steady="" beeping="" until="" hard="" powerdown=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;All of them Lock the Keyboard and flash the Numberlock and Capslock LEDs.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any Ideas or possible solutions?&lt;BR /&gt;I'll be monitering this all day, and can provide any information asked for.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Jason&lt;BR /&gt;Linux System User for 9 years&lt;/GIBERISH&gt;&lt;/MEMORY&gt;&lt;/STACK&gt;&lt;/MEMORY&gt;</description>

      <description>It looks like a memory problem or something related to the memory chip. Make sure that memory chips are correctly configured and seated properly in their sockets. Also try to install additional RAM on a motheboard.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Sergejs</description>

      <description>From my point of view the kernel virtual memory manager at some point can not choose the appropriate memory bank to allocate and deallocate kernel pages. &lt;BR /&gt;You should try to change your memory chips.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Sergejs</description>
