For this server you can use or "regular" 32-bit RHEL (x86), or x86_64 release, which suppoort CPUs with EMT64 extension.

As for "Witness voice recorder software " - you should check their Release Notes.

We have a vendor attempting to install Witness voice recorder software on our server. They are installing Redhat 3.3 on a HP DL380 G4 Dual 3.2 Gb 64 Bit processor. They are now saying that the server is over spected. Can some one advise if this is a limitation of Redhat or the bespoke Witness software.

Steve

You need a special version of Red Hat designed for 64 bit to run on that platform.

I don't know what over spected means. There are versions of Red Hat Enterprise 3 that run on 64 bit, at least Itanium processors.

SEP

Hi Steve,

EM64T is 32bit compatible. You should install compat*.rpm to have a try.

NiCK

due to restrictions placed upon us with the software vendor we have now supplied a 32 Bit Op system. Thanks for the info on Redhat for 64 Bit systems
