Hi,

I am trying to install Redhat Linux ES 3.0 on Itanium rx1600 using HP Enablement Kit for Linux. I selected option 2 "Install Linux from distributor media" but it always picks the 1st option "Recover factory pre-configured image".

And it gives me the message, "You have choosen to recover a preconfigured system image from CD. Put the sytem recovery CD in the drive..."

I am unable to install linux as such. Please help.

I downloaded HP Enablement Kit for linux from this website

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locBasepartNum=ux-22935-1〈=English

Thanks,
Tweety

This unusual behavior sometimes results from Console TERM settings.

Is this a graphical install attempt, or more of a console, text windows type install?

SEP

Dumb terminal connected through serial port does not display anything, except a blinking cursor on the top left corner.

I think I pressed cntr-F and set console=ttyS0 at kernel options: prompt of the HP enablement kit for Linux Menu. After that, it did not responded properly. I rebooted the HP machine and cannot see any display on the dump terminal.

Note: I tried different options. TERM=vt100 etc...I do not remember exact sequence of events.

If someone knows which file I need to change, please let me know.

Someone please help.

Thanks in advance,
TWT.

I got my console back but still have the problem selecting a menu option. i.e., it always selects "Recover a preconfigured system image" no matter what I select. Thus unable to go to the install part at all.
TWT
