Are you talking about the "smart start" CD Steven? l assume not, as that doesn't cover linux installs.

l did download and try to install the final Core 3 Fedora with no luck, so l need that disk as you say. What is it called?

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Hey people,

Trying to install Fedora on our DL360 with mirrored 36 gig drives on the 5i raid controller.

The server has been configured as a Linux server in the System Options, OS Selection, and l have ensured that the RAID controller is selected correctly as well in the Bios.

The install goes fine, but then the system fails to boot, hanging while trying to locate the (C) drive. The actual message is "looking for boot from hard-drive (C)".

Is this because l'm using a version of Linux not supported? Have l missed something?

Thanks in advance.

Alan

Fedora FCS3 Test 3 apparently has an issues with the 5i scsi raid driver, so will not install.

What did work was to Install Redhat 8.0, and then upgrade to Fedora FCS3 Test 3.

All works as it should now.

Well Fedora Core 3 now has production code available, you may want to try that.

Before that though, you need to get the DL360 cd or download and create a bootable DL360 CD based on what hp has on the website.

To get the thing to use even an internal disk array you need to boot of this cd and prepare the disk. Then you can boot off Linux and it will recognize the disk.

SEP

l was finally able to install Fedora core 3 successfully.

l did not need to run any process or use any other disk beforehand.

Using Fedora Core 3 Final, l had install issues, but then realized that the issues were not driver or server related, l had found a bug on Core 3 final.

When you mod the disk partitioning after using the auto partition feature during the install, Fedora will not be able to create the volume.

After using the standard partitioning, the install worked fine.

Hope this helps.
