Hi,

Few months ago I installed Emulex LP8000 HBAs in Linux Intel Intel 32-bit boxes running Red Hat 7.1. However, I never tested Alpha/ES40.

At the beginning, the Emulex driver was not OpenSource. Therefore, It could only run on i386. Now, it is and I guess it runs on more platforms, but you have to test it by yourself.

Go to :

http://emulex.com/ts/docfc/linux/123a/indexdownload.htm

Try the IA32 version (tgz, NOT rpm). If it doesn't work, then try the IA64 version (tgz, NOT rpm).

Good luck.

Kodjo
Hello Kodjo,

neither the IA-32 nor the IA-64 version will work. Deepak clearly stated this is an ES40 with Alpha chips.

Greetings, Martin

Hello Huc,
The specified URL is not telling any thing about driver of Alpha Linux with LP8k.
I checked on Emulex site lp8k support linux on most of architecture i.e(i386,itanium,windows....) and drivers are also available.

But i require the driver for lp8k on Alpha Linux.
Kodjo i feel Martin is right i386 driver won't work for Alpha.

Thanks
Deepak

You can get an updated version of the emulex drivers from:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lpfcxxxx/
I just successfully compiled this driver on an alpha, tho i'm not currently in the office to actually insert and test the card... but wish me luck!
