Hi,
I have to use a HP Surestore DAT 40x6 (Model C5713A) with a Proliant DL380 G3.
The OS in use is Suse 8.2 and the DAT Autoloader is attacched at the scsi card of Smart Array 5i. I also upgrade the driver by downloading from HP support the latest version for this controller.
Unfortunaly the only thing that I can see is the tape in sequential acces and not in media change!!

Some hint's on problem?

Yeap, as one of the links on that pages states, 'mtx' is your friend.

It's a jukebox/auto-loader tool which allows you to swtch tapes and such under Linux.

The current webpage for the latest dev work on it is at http://mtx.badtux.net/, which lists the DAT40x6 as a compatable device.

Have fun. I just wanna get my hands on one of those autochanges to have a play!

Thanks and sorry for being late in assigning points and in replying. The solution to our problem has been to buy a new SCSI card. The one present does not support LUNs different from 0, but only different targets. Since the tape drive and robotics differ by LUN number, we had to buy an Adaptec SCSI card, which supports such configuration.
