There is a point in the installation where Linux install will detect the driver and prompt for a driver diskette or cd.

If it doesn't its not supported and you need a newer version of Linux.

SEP

What is the exact procedure of installing Red Hat Linux 7.3 on the ML350 (or any other Proliant) that is equipped with an SA641 controller. The driver does exist and can be installed on a running 7.3 system. Our system however is new, thus empty and not running any os. So how do we get the driver for the 641 on the system during installation?

You have to use a driver disk.

The disk is available at the following:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/19862.html

Just using "linux dd" at the boot prompt.

I'll ask a stupid question - why Redhat 7.3 when this is out of support by Redhat?

We have to use Linus 7.3 due to the application software. This cannot run on the new RedHat releases.
