How to I configure a schedule backup . Sorry I still can get the tape backup working . More Help needed .

1) Decide what backup software you want to use. Write a script to handle the backup.

2) man cron or man crontab. Use cron the schedule the backup. attaching the man page.

I am trying to use amanda , I have installed it and the services is running but just could not figure out how to configure it or check if it's really working.

When I issue this , It seeem that it can't find the tape drive

See if you tape drive is really there.

"cat /proc/scsi/scsi" or "cdrecord -scanbus". This should show you if your tape drive is configured proeprly.

Guess scheduling the cron job is the best way so that no intervention us required.
