RedHat 9, NC8000, refresh rate.

I'm trying to get a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz on an HP NC8000 laptop using RedHat 9.

Has anyone done this?

Hello Paul,

you do configure the display using

system-config-display on RedHat.

The config is kept in /etc/X11/XF86Config
you could try to change the refresh rate in
there directly. One thing you should make sure before doing anything like this is that your Notebook display actually does support refresh rates higher than 60Hz (LCDs generally do have lower refresh rates than CRTs).

I did try that. But Actually I think this is solved now, the section from my XF86Config file that fixed the problem is attached for furure reference...

Driver "radeon"

Option "crt_screen" # Works only with "radeon" driver.

For an LCD display a higher refresh rate is useless, needless or whatever the correct English word is. It won't give you a better image. Higher refresh rates are useful for CRT displays.

That's true, but as I am connecting an external monitor, the question was relevant. The issue is solved, thanks.
