    <description>I seem to recall that installation fails like this on some Linux distributions if the floppy drive isn't activated in bios.  Try enabling that (even if you don't have a physical floppy drive).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Bruce</description>

      <title>Installaing RH on HP Pavillion ze 5400</title>

      <description>I try to install RH 8.0 or RH 9.0 on my new HP Pavillion ze 5400, but the installation freezes on :&lt;BR /&gt;- paritiion checking for RH 8.0&lt;BR /&gt;- loading drivers for RH 9&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Does anybody have an idea about this ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks in advance for any input.</description>

      <description>First check your setup program to see if there's an option to turn OFF legacy USB support.  That  may solve the problem.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If not, many ze4000/5000 users find it necessary to use the nousb, nopcmcia, and/or nomce options when starting their installation program.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Bruce</description>

      <description>Thnaks Bruce for your hints.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I still have problems with RH 8.0.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It hangs verty early on on &lt;BR /&gt;"Checking partitions :&lt;BR /&gt;    hda:"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I tried your recipes. No effect.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I'm realy stuck. ANy more idea.</description>

      <description>Hi there,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Its the firewire device thats freezing it&lt;BR /&gt;get past this by passing the command &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;linux noauto or linux nofirewire &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;at the install screen where it promts you to install or choose expert settings.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Im sorry I cant be of more help but Im new to it myself.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;further to this try searching on google.com/linux&lt;BR /&gt;or...&lt;BR /&gt;justlinux.com&lt;BR /&gt;linuxquestions.org&lt;BR /&gt;both of the above forums have plenty of info covering this particular problem&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Scott</description>
