Hi guys, i have a pc with redhat9 and i want to download photo from a my nikon 4300, but i have a:
- gtkam 0.1.7
- gphoto2 2.1.0
and this version of gphoto2 don't support my camera.
what do i do to upgrade this version of gphoto2.

From posts Ive seen, the Nikon coolpix 4300 should show up as a standard USB Readable Card device. Plug it in, and you should have new SCSI devices to mount.

Try plugging it in, check what gets pumped to the console (use 'dmesg' if you're not on the console) or log files.

Also see what gets listed in '/proc/scsi/scsi'. You may need 'sg' support compiled in, or module loaded.

Hello,

I got the same digital camera and I can confirm that it works fine in linux, just as most USB flash based storage cards.
If your kernel supports SCSI then you should be able to mount /dev/sda1 (or sdaX depending on the other scsi devices) when it's plugged in. The kernel messages (dmesg) when connecting the camera can be very usefull to troubleshoot this, pls post them if you're still having trouble.
