You need not have Flash to record under GNU/Linux. First you master the CD using the program `mkisofs'. Flash and Director are `non-free' programs. Once you have mastered your CD, you can burn a CD-R/RW with `cdrecord'. You actually burn the .iso image generated by `mkisofs' with `cdrecord'. I believe that I have answered a small part of what you meant.
