Question wrt elilo, rx2600 and Linux AS3

Hello
I have cds with AS3 and an rx2600 that I want to upgrade. When I get to the EFI level I select the cd device (fs0:) and tried to start linux from the cd by typing ...
fs0:\> elilo linux nofb console=ttyS0
(according to the LOSL site topic on AS3 I need the nofb switch)
which gives me back ...

uncompressing linux ...
ELILO boot:

That's not what I expected. Am I supposed
to typeing something for this prompt? I expected the system to boot rather than giving me this "ELILO boot:" prompt.

I've got a null modem cable connected to the
rx2600 and am using a pc hyperterminal as
a console. The system doesn't not contain a vga card.

rx2600 is a 64 bit Intel Platform.

You may need an IA-64 distribution.

My Linux experience says on a normal install with normal hardware you do not have to type anything then. Something is wrong.

I do have an ia-64 distribution. Someone else burned the cds from the LOSL site.
I guess maybe I should try and boot the cds
from another rx2600 I have that does have
a graphics card just to see what happens.

Burn the cd's yourself. Make sure you follow the instructions on Red Hat's website.

I suspect a bad cd or hardware problem on the server. You should be able to check that by interupting the boot at the console and rurnning the sea command.

Look at the documentation for LILO. It could be there is an implicit error message in what you receive. For instance the messages

LI
LIL
LILO

indicates varius errors.

I moved the disk I wanted to update to a machine with a graphics card and then moved it back to the machine without the grpahics card after the installtion. I just can't seem to get console output to go to my pc but it does boot up ok.
