Hi,

The other day I took my laptop (w RH9) running, and plugged it in another power outlet and another switchport. Since that time crond is not running anymore. No entrys are made in messages and cron.log.

Does anyone know why the cron daemon stops.

Thanks
Donald

is apmd enabled. if yes, this is possible. was just scanning through the configuration of apmd in /etc/sysconfig/apmd and it crond / atd are listed as LOW POWER services. that means when the power is low, they will be stopped and will be restarted when the power is back.

you can have a look there. and there should be some info logged. beats me.
-balaji

Hi,

crond was indeed a low power service. APM kills cron if the battery is low. It should restart cron if power is back on. It does not.

I removed crond from the low power services.

Donald
