Has anyone successfully installed RedHat 9 on a Proliant DL380G3 server? I boot the CD ok, but failed in a subsequent message saying the CD inside the CDROM is not a RedHat 9 distribution? Any ideas

The hardware is certified by Red Hat. Have you tried a different CD. This is a multi cd installation, requiring cd changes.

SEP

Did you buy the CDs or burn them yourself? If the latter, you may simply have a bad CD (or image). That's actually pretty common with downloads, etc.

Bruce

Same problem here. Although it boots from CDROM and runs the initial phase of the installer from ramdisk, it can't seem to mount the CDROM on /dev/hda. It keeps looking on /dev/cciss/* fo r the CDROM.

I did some digging on the shrike lists. Redhat believes it's a kernel ide driver bug. We bypassed the problem by doing a NFS install. Here are links to the relevant messages:

https://listman.redhat.com/pipermail/shrike-list/2003-April/001836.html

https://listman.redhat.com/pipermail/shrike-list/2003-April/001881.html
We seem to have the same problem with a Proliant ML350.

Can someone point out the Redhat incident where they (redhat) are indicating it's a driver problem. Redhat seems to want to push it off on bad media.

also has anybody been able to boot/install RH9 on proliant 3000?
