      <description>Hello Friends,&lt;BR /&gt;    I have linux (red hat) abc.xyz.com and I do telnet to some machine (hp-ux) lmn.xyz.com and I want to run xterm on this machine but I am getting error: Error: Can't open display: abc.xyz.com:0.0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;    On machine abc.xyz.com I did xhost +&lt;BR /&gt;    On machine lmn.xyz.com I set DISPLAY to abc.xyz.com:0.0&lt;BR /&gt;     But still I am getting this error.       <description>Thanx.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am using Linux  2.4.7-10&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Yes, I do get messages in /var/log/messages&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;One more thing, I am unable to telnet to my machine from other machine i.e. could not telnet to abc.xyz.com from lmn.xyz.com&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks again.</description>

      <description>Juan... do you know if the firewall package was installed?  We run Linux here and an associate installed every package available.  The firewall wil automatically disable almost anything trying to connect to your machine.  Try this (we run Red Hat as well):&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;enter lokkit at a command prompt&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you get the Firewall configuration menu, set the security level to disable the firewall.. assuming you don't need it.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can also run:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;rpm -qa | grep firewall&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you get something like firewall-config-0.97-2 you can use rpm to uninstall it:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;rpm -e firewall-config-0.97-2&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hope that helps&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ted</description>
