Hi Scott,
notebook evo n1020v has an Integrated
ATI called IGP 340M and I don't know for example whether XFree86 4.3, which has a Radeon driver, can support
that graphic board,

bye Cristiano

Hi all,
I'd like to buy a Compaq Evo1020v
with Mobile Penium 4 1.8Ghz but
I have no idea if Linux can be installed on it and I absolutely need Linux for my work.
Does anyone have succesfully installed Linux on such a laptop?
A seller I know told me that he got
problems trying to do that...

thanks
Cristiano

Same configuration as my laptop being a p4/1.6. I recommend Redhat 7.3 or you can go 8.x if you wish. The only problem I have at this point which some people can get around is the display issue under xwindows. My video chipset is a radeon mobility 7500 and I'm not sure what they stock the evo with. But that is my only issue. All other hardware with in the laptop was probed properly. (My laptop uses the 845 chipset which is what yours should be using) unless it's a via or sis then I can't answer this for you. Good Luck.
