topic Replacing modem on XF145 in Operating System - Linux

I have a bad modem and want to replace it. I removed the cover on the bottom but there are no additional screws to remove the modem. Does anyone know how to get the old modem out so that I can put in a new one? Thanks!

Hello Larry,

I don't know if it's possible to replace it. But have a look at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&docIndexName=manuals&locale=en_US&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=73227&prodSeriesName=hp+pavilion+notebook+xf145
There is a Troubleshooting and Self-Repair Guide for the series XF100.
Good luck
Dirk

I don't know about your XF145, but normally these modems clips in just like memory cards.
Just pull the tabs on both sides at the top of the card and it will pop up.

The real reason I'm posting is to tell you that it is probably cheaper and easier just to get a PC Card modem as a replacement.
