topic Installing Redhat 7.0 on an Omnibook 4150 in Operating System - Linux

Has anyone tried to install Redhat Linux 7.0 on an Omnibook 4150. I had 6.2 running with no problems at all. The installation of 7.0 goes off without a hitch, but when the system boots it hangs at enabling swap space and does nothing else. No sequence of keys will break out of this condition. I have since reinstalled 6.2 until I can find out what?s wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have RedHat 7.0 running in my OmniBook 4150 in dual boot with Windows 2000 Professional. I used the custom installation, and manually define the partitions, one of 16MB for /boot, one of 2500MB for "/" and one of 400MB for swap (I have 128MB of RAM). What type of installation are you doing?

I've a 6000 omnibook, and having problem making it dual-boot
linux and 2000.

I created the boot sector by taking the 1st 512 bytes from
my root partition and later I tried the boot partition. I copied
it over to NT, edited boot.ini to point to it, and it doesn't
work. I got these instructions from

http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/Linux+NT-Loader.html

according to steps 5 and 6.

Thaks for any help.

Hi

RedHat 7.0, in /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit file,
system try to insmod agpgart, but it hang your omnibook 4150.
So what you need is
(1) boot the system with following option
linux init=/bin/bash rw

(2) edit /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
find agpgart related lines, and make them "comment".

(3) reboot your system.

(4)after system your system boot up, you may
try "insmod agpgart" to confirm the system
freeze.... if you want.

Regards,

This problem happened on RH7+E60, RH7+ob4150.
