    <description>Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;On a Linux system, the scsi tape drives are accessed through /dev/st0, /dev/st1...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Just a test : insert a tape into the device, then try to read/write data on it :&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cd /tmp&lt;BR /&gt;tar cvf /dev/st0 .&lt;BR /&gt;tar tvf /dev/st0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Note one important thing : the driver for the scsi card used for your tape device normally should be loaded automatically. If this is not the case, you may configure your system to do so :&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   =&amp;gt; edit /etc/modules.conf and add :&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;(replace aic7xxx by the driver that best matches your scsi card).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   =&amp;gt; type "depmod" -a to check the kernel module dependency graph.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Good luck.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kodjo&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Confirm if your system load st (scsi tape) driver into kernel.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# dmesg | grep st &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# lsmod &lt;BR /&gt;or &lt;BR /&gt;Can you find your DDS drive in &lt;BR /&gt;# cat /proc/scsi/scsi  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
