You should probably take a look at MondoRescue:
http://mondorescue.org

It's a tool that can write a backup image of the system to CDs or to a remote NFS filesystem (as a set of ISO images you can later burn to CDs/DVDs if restore over the network is not possible for some reason). It includes a boot image generator, so the CD images will be bootable, and will automatically present a system restoration UI.

You can even use the boot image generator to build a PXE network boot image that can be used to recover systems completely over the network, if you have iLO or equivalent remote console access (for telling the system to boot from the network) or the system is already configured to boot from the network if the local disk is not bootable. With a proper DHCP server/PXE netboot set-up, you can do bare-metal recoveries remotely.

MK

hi

I'm looking for NFS boot floppy or CD to backup and recover a hard disk to/from NFS server over the network.
I know I can do it with Knoppix, Puppy or other LIVE CD, but our users without IT or NFS know-how should be able to do it automatically.
