Are you using bonding option "miimon" for monitoring the connection state?

With Virtual Connect, it might not be adequate: when you unplug the cable, the connection from the Virtual Connect to the external network is lost, but the physical connection between the blade and the Virtual Connect is still there, so the link between the blade and the Virtual Connect is still up.

You may have to configure bonding to verify the state of each slave by ARP probing some host that is _external_ to the enclosure. (Maybe the default gateway would be a good target?)

Please see bonding options arp_ip_target and arp_interval:
http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt

MK
