Hi,

Did you ever get this resolved? I am experiencing a related issue with the interface speed fluctuating between 1000 and 100 Mpbs. The OS I am using is CentOS 6.2. Hardware is DL120 G7. Eliminated switches and cables and updated the firmware and tried manufacturer drivers.

Thanks

ad^2

Hi.

We have just received a batch of shiny new G7 DL120's

One MAJOR issue....

The onboard ethernet cards do NOT work with debian or ubuntu (centos seems fine.)

They constantly disconnect (I can't actually get ANY!!!! connection)

I have tried multiple G7 DL120 servers - the same thing occurs.

I have tried also installing the latest intel driver from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=15817

- I wasn't able to compile the driver using the standard Debian kernel 2.6.32 - It did compile using the backport kernel (3.2.0) - modinfo showed it was using 1.9.5 driver - however the exact same thing happened

the 2 attachments are

1. lspci -vv

2. dmesg

What can we do ?

We have URGENT orders to get out

Are HP DL120G7 only Centos compatible (if so we will have to find a different HW supplier)

regards

Attachments now attached.

Tried the driver from

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=15817

Even Tried extracting the version from the Centos SRPM - and installing the driver from that

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=5075933&prodNameId=5075937&mode=1&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-360c6fa954b045b9bc1ce33086

That means I have tried 4 version of the intel driver (multiple kernels)

1.9.5
1.4.4
1.3.6 (the HP SRPM version)
1.2 (or whatever the default kernel one is)

None work.....

Also not working :-

Ubuntu 11.10 + 12.04 (I did not install any extra drivers on these...) - so Ubuntu 12.04 will NOT work also.

Also tried

- ethtool - disable auto neg

grub - disable aspm

NOTHING WORKS !!!!

Have you tried moving the network cable from what you think is eth0 to the other NIC port? PCI bus enumeration issues can switch port designations around
