I know nothing, but a Google search for
dns dig serial
found many things, including:

http://www.madboa.com/geek/dig/

$ dig +nocmd ogi.edu any +multiline +noall +answer

I assume that one could specify a particular
server somehow. I see:

Query a different nameserver?

Just specify it on the command line:

dig @ns1.google.com www.google.com

When you did your Web search, what did you
look for?

Shalom,

It shows up on

dig any hpux.ws (pick your own domain name)

dig any | grep SOA

# Will also return the data.

Your secondary's if configured correctly will always have the same serial number as the master.

SEP
