Hi,

We just received brand new BL460c G6 blades. I used G4L to clone RedHat AS 5 servers we had running on older BL460c blades and everything works except the NICs. It seems the bnx2 and bnx2x modules do not work with these network cards.

$ uname -r
2.6.18-92.el5xen (also booted with non-xen kernel with same result)

$ lspci | grep -i ethernet
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM57712 10Gigabit PCIe

$ cat /etc/modprobe.conf | grep eth0
alias eth0 bnx2x (also tried bnx2)

# modinfo bnx2x | grep version
version: 1.40.22

And finally:

$ ifconfig eth0
eth0: unknown interface: No such device

Is there another module I should be using?

Thanks!

It would be best to update to RHEL5.3 and then also consider updating to the latest driver provided for the NC532i, which can be found starting at www.hp.com, clicking on support and drivers and entering NC532i.

BTW, you should probably also execute an update-pciids command because it is rather unlikely that you actually have BCM57712's - I suspect you have BCM57711E's. I'm told there was a point when it was thought the PCI id ultimately called the BCM57711E was being called the BCM57712, but that changed. Thus the suggestion to update the pci.ids file.
