I am not really sure if i understand you correctly, but it sounds to me that you have a folder on a windows server and you want to mount it on your linux server.
You have to install the smbfs filesystem. Then you can mount it with this command:

mount -t smbfs -o username=<USER>/<DOMAIN>%<PASSWORD> //<SERVER>/<SHARE> /path/to/mountpoint

you can also add it to the fstab.

HeL</SHARE></SERVER></PASSWORD></DOMAIN></USER>

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and Win2K Server

I want to access a Win folder from my Linux server. I think I can do it through Samba.

1) Is this possible?
2) How can I do it? Anyone that has a step-by-step guide to do this?

Hi

>>Is this possible?

Yes

>>How can I do it? Anyone that has a step-by-step guide to do this?

You must configure the /etc/samba/smb.conf file. The file has a lot of configuration options and operating environments, so check the Samba Collection Howto available in /usr/share/doc/samba-<VERSION> directory.

You should be aware of the smbstat command and testparm.</VERSION>
