    <description>RE: how is system patched.....not quite sure as I'm more familiar with redhat than suse.  How would we go about finding out ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sounds like the customer may have it working now but only for telnet and rlogin.  It doesn't work for ssh.   I have no idea if ssh is capable of reading the shadow information for an account.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am able to reproduce this as well.....an account that has expired says so for a telnet login, but ssh simply keeps asking for the password prompt and eventually gives up.&lt;BR /&gt;Perhaps this is correct behaviour...not sure.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Has anyone tried to setup an nis server on SLES v9 and also been successful at using password expiration ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I've managed to get this working to some extent but I see many inconistancies.   Yast for example doesn't seem to add the new users to the NIS database but instead adds them to the custom database.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In order to get the password expiration to work must you tell yast to combine the passwd and shadow files ?  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any help greatly appreciated.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
