Telnet to that machine and check run level as,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# who -r&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is it 5.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;From which platform you are doing remote login? Is it windows / linux?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hth.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You are having problems to contact the X server, and the reasons can various.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What UNIX are you using?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You may need to enable remote connections (XDMCP).</description>

      <description>More info is needed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Example, if you are working on a Linux system and connecting to HPUX, you would not see a login window. If the HPUX isa running X then you will login to a dtterm/xterm window.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you are using an emulator, such as Exceed or Reflections, then you can see a login screen. But this depends on how you are configured in that emulator.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>It sounds like a network issue.Pls try to use "direct connect" option.Could you provide more Xmanger config?</description>

      <description>thanx to all&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i'm using my XP to connect to redhat fedora core1&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i turned off my firewall in the pc and the server&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;the problem now is some time it works and it gave me the login screen and sometime it doesn't work and it shows (connection to XDMCP fayiled).&lt;BR /&gt;thanx in advance&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Saud</description>

      <description>By default, firewalls block port 7000 which is used to handle font services.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;DISPLAY variable needs to be set correctly:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;example: export DISPLAY=192.168.0.10:0.0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Network configuration and vlan can cause problems here.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;tail -f /var/log/messages&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;On the target machine, try a connect. If you see nothing, its probably networking. If you see errors, share with us.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
