from the ethtool it appears as the link is no connected. Hardly the problem will be the VLAN because I have already tested with a switch with no vlan configurations, and the result was the same.

ethtool eth0:
Settings for eth0:
Supported ports: [ MII ]
Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full
Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
Speed: Unknown! The logs don´t accuse anything. How can i solve this

Thanks in advance
David

When you say "the NIC" is there really only one NIC in the DL145? I thought there was more than one, so are you sure the NIC you think you are using is the one you are actually using?

Hi David,

You are telling that, "it is not running". Could you please be clear in this sentence.
By which we can get some idea.

Because, if you say "it is not running", it may be physical network connectivity issue also.

rgds,

subbu.
You Eth0 NIC is up and has an IP as well as a netmask from what you sent us. Can you send us a netstat -rn which will show us the routing table. From this we can determine the gateway. Try pinging the default gateway. Also verify the Cisco switch config. Are you using VLAN's? Perhaps the port this server is connected to is in the wrong VLAN.

I think that there may be a problem with the switch configuration (VLAN) or your module is not working correctly for your ethernet adapter. You can see from the ouput of ifconfig -a that no packets are received, you should always get packets received even if tcp/ip is not configured (broadcast packets).

Check your link status with ethtool. Check yoru adapter and port speed configuration.

from the ethtool it appears as the link is no connected. Hardly the problem will be the VLAN because I have already tested with a switch with no vlan configurations, and the result was the same.

ethtool eth0:
Settings for eth0:
Supported ports: [ MII ]
Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full
Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
Speed: Unknown!
'NEVER' set either end of a 100BT link to different settings. Sorrow and woe will result. Both ends should be auto, or if you really feel the need to hardcode (which youwill have to stop doing with gigabit) make sure that both sides are hardcoded to the same value.

Also, you cannot really assume that the order of eth0 eth1 etc will remain fixed as things are changed in the system - new bits or new cards or whatnot can mean that what was once eth0 is not eth1 etc. So, if ethtool shows there is no cable connected to the interface, you might try ethtool against the other interface and see if the cable is connected there...

I suggest to connect ethernet cable to another NIC - IMHO, for now it's connected to eth1.

Yes , I have switched the cable and now it is working. It´s strange I was guided by the number that apperas aside the NIC ( 1-> eth0), I was convinced that I had already done that step.
Anyway thank y'all
