yeah, some rpc based services or windows.

Im not familiar with windows. Maybe there is an equivalent to "fuser" that would tell you what app is holding this port open

Hi,
Anybody knows something about the 1025 port? I run a portscan over some windows computers(win2k,xp) in my network and
I've encountered the port 1025 TCP with the name 'blackjack' returned as the name service.
Yes, it's a silly name, question would be why choose this name...
blackjack, port 1025, is the current name, from 2K and XP windows distro, for the RPC service of the task scheduler, that is to say the service you would use to connect to another machine if you schedule a task to do so.
If not, you can stop it by typing on the machine :
C:\>WINDOWS> net stop Schedule

hth

J
