    <description>Red Hat went to vsftp probably with your version.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;check the files in /etc/xinetd.d&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There is a file in there to enable ftp gssftp or something similar&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;make sure disable = no in this file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vsftp is no longer managed by the xinetd daemon, it is stopped/started and managed on its own.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;service vsftpd start&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;chkconfig --level 12345 vsftptd on&lt;BR /&gt;# sets the system to start the service at boot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>I'm not sure about RedHat 2.1A but my Fedora Core 1 uses vsftpd. I can start it with:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/etc/init.d/vsftpd start&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You may have /etc/xinetd.d/wuftpd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In that case you need to edit the wuftpd file and change disable = yes to no&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Vern</description>
