Export Display

Hi,

I have have 2 servers.
Server A has GUI console. and other ServerB is terminal.

what steps I need to follow on both servers , so after telnet from ServerA to serverB , I can able to get GUI of serverB.

You can run Xapps like this,
On serverA,
# xhost +
On server B after telneting,
# export DISPLAY=serverA:0.0
eg: to bring up,
# xterm &

But if you want to access the whole GUI, you would have to use some VNC like remote access app.

Other way is to connet using ssh with X11 forwarding.

[serverA]# ssh -X serverB

Just run any GUI based application. It will be tunneled to serverA.

hi,

on serverA do :

xhost + (allow X connection from any x server) or
xhost IPofserverB (only from particular x server)

telnet on serverB

export DISPLAY=ipserverA:0.0 (export DISPLAY variable from server B to A on first monitor forst display)

xclock & - only checking - should works

xterm & or xine & ... (you are on B via GUI)
