Hi,

One of the linux omniback diskagents is performing very slow ( < 1Mbit/s ). When the backup is running the messages file is filled with this repeating errors:
...
Kernel: RPC: sendmsg returned error 22
Kernel: nfs: RPCcall returned error 22
...

Does anybody heve a clue?

first of all , let me ask you this , how is the speed of other network applications. Do a
ftp from a PC to this linux . Get back with results.

Guess what, other networkconnections (ftp) is also very slow.

Hi,
Any peculiar messages in /var/log/messages ?
What is your CPU load ?.
What is the switch port and ethernet speed settings ?

I mentioned the messages before (error 22 on nfs and rpc); the cpuload is low; switch and ethernetcard are at 100FD

Look at the obvious first.

Try another ethernet cable.

Try the cable in another switch port.

Re-verify that indeed it is at Full Duplex
on both the Switch and NIC.

Turn off auto-negotiate.

Verify that the installed software driver for the NIC is the correct one. There are all kinds of problems with accidentally using the wrong 3Com driver for a card and it ends up working anyway. Reliability usually suffers.

If the cable works on another system, to that same port on the switch, try swapping out the NIC.

- Switch on auto
- linux on 100/full
