It is working properly & I have checked a no of

permissions like access time for certain ips to access internet, blocking sites

etc etc.
But I am having a problem like suddenly after some time i gert an error like

the below.
I am not able to get through the problem. Can anybody help me please.
Waiting for your helpful reply.....

Bye,
Sahas

The requested URL could not be retrieved

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.ibm.com/

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.ibm.com
The dnsserver returned:

No DNS records
This means that:

The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.

Your cache administrator is abc@abc.com.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Generated Fri, 30 May 2003 11:50:09 GMT by www.cache.com4 (Squid/2.3.STABLE4)

This is a sign of trouble with Domain Name Resolution.

On the aquid box, see if you can ping the entries in /etc/resolv.conf when the error happens.

see if dig or nslookup work.

It could be trouble talking to your outside public Internet DNS server or trouble on that server or at your ISP itself.

SEP

Sahas,

With the intermittent nature of this error, I would almost have to think that it would be a DNS server error, not a squid error.

If they are internal business DNS servers you are hooking up to, then have your network gurus look into the problem fast. If they are Internet servers provided by your ISP, then you can contact them and enquire about it.

It wouldn???t make sense for the software to fade in and out like that. Usually it either works or it doesn???t.
