    <description>Hi all, &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I recently installed redhat linux 9 and join it in our NIS domain. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The box has no problem to see all the NIS maps. &lt;BR /&gt;# ypcat -k auto.direct &lt;BR /&gt;/apps fileserver1:/sun4/apps&lt;BR /&gt;/opt  fileserver2:/sun4/opt&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# ypcat -k auto.master&lt;BR /&gt;/- auto.direct -soft&lt;BR /&gt;/net -hosts -soft&lt;BR /&gt;/home auto.home -soft&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The box also have /etc/auto.master&lt;BR /&gt;# cat /etc/auto.master&lt;BR /&gt;/home yp:auto.home&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# cat /etc/nsswitch.conf | grep automount&lt;BR /&gt;automount:  files nis&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I got users' homes to automount on this machine  work fine. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But could not direct mount /apps and /opt. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if I "cd / " and then " ls"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I saw "-" listed as a file there.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# ls &lt;BR /&gt;-  bin  boot  dev  etc  home  initrd  lib&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can you help me with the auto.direct mounting problems.       <description>Jane,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Most Linux aren't supporting direct Maps&lt;BR /&gt;for AutoFS file systems which explains the behaior tha you see.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-&amp;gt; Brian Hackley</description>

      <description>Brian,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks for the verification. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Currently, we configure those linux boxes only as computing box, all the application software would be installed in a hpux file server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;How can I achieve this? automounting the installation in HPux from the linux box? &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks.</description>
