Samba dont work

Hi

If i will make a connection to my share, i become the message "the network path was not fount"

Server can ping to client and client can ping to server.

I have RedHat 7.2

hi,
check whether smbd and nmbd are running .
ps -ef | grep smbd
ps -ef | grep nmbd

try restarting samba service

service samba restart
try gain accessing the share.
From the windows client try to ping to samba server using samba server's netbeui name (UNC)

also try this,

c:\>nbtstat -a "server's ip"
please attach the output of the above command

yes the service is running but i dont can map the share

hi,
your samba server is not answering netbeui name
queries. are you sure nmbd is running ?
give this command
#nmbd
any errors ?.
#ps -ef | grep nmbd
running ?.
have you set the server name properly in smb.conf?.
also try accessing the share from a windows 98 machine and get back with results.
can please you attach the smb.conf file ?.

i don't map with the pc name, i mape with the ip.

hi,
i think the problem is solved . you have not removed the comment before netbios name .

; netbios name = apprentice
remove ;
then restart the samba service

then give command "ping apprentice" from windows machine.

i have changed the line

encrypt passwords = no
netbios name = swizhapp-01

hi,
what is the result after restarting the service after this configuration change ?.
i would recommend to kill nmbd once and restart the samba service using
service samba restart.
please get back with results. if nmbd is running with netbios name = parameter enabled
you will be able to get name of the server
using the nbtstat command which i have previously mentioned.
