Hi,

I want to do a backup of my Dell power edge 1400sc server running on windows 2000 .
My intension is to backup everything so that
I can do a restore on a new server(without having to install windows from the beginning). However, I want to also backup file that has not been used for the past six months after which I will delete them from the server for space for other things. I also want to free up space on my first partition without deleting important system files

Can I have a detailed clue to this three questions?

Best thing would be to post to the Microsoft forum I'm sure there will be a lot more Windows experts over there. Unfortunately, this is the Linux forum.

We use Norton Ghost for that.

You creaate a boot disk with networking enabled for your network to a diskette or other boot device.

Boot off of it.

Then run Norton Ghost.

You can image the entire disk to any other machine on the network with enough storage.

Then shut down the old server, boot the new one the same way(we use Win98 as the dos version). Connect to the image server image the new server and you are done with minimal downtime.
