hi
simple backup, make a backup of your data files, if you try to backup also your system files, you will lost all the files working and open at this moment, to respore, you need to reinstall your O.S , reinstall your Backup software, and then restore your data.
Disaster recovery or OBDR (One Botton Disaster Recovery) let you create a tape which can boot like a cd-rom, on this tape, the software which handle the backup, create a image which can start the server and start the complete restore of all the containt of your server including boot partition, boot files, system files.you can understand that in this way, the recovery time of your system will be shorter.
Bye
marino

Hi,

You haven't stated what Operating System
you are running.... If you are running
HPUX you need to create an Ignite Tape.
The easiest way is from the command line
# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Once this has been created, you can
interactively rebuild from this bootable
tape onto a different server.

HTH
-Michael
