Absolutely, positively NO!! They are not compatible. You can use an HVD/LVD SCSI bus convertor. One source is Blackbox Corp.
http://www.blackbox.com/

Hi Guys,
General question: can Fast Wide Differential Disks (e.g., from J210) be
connected to LVD adapters (e.g., on 785 class machines) ?
Thanks,
Ron.

Hi Ron:

NO ! You could connect the SE disks with LVD adapters. The standards are different in LVD and fastwide.

HTH,
Shiju

Although most versions of SCSI (SE, Fast, Wide, LVD, Ultra, etc) are compatible with just a cable change, Fast Wide Differential used by HP is known as High Voltage Fast Wide Differential. HP was one of the first adopters for this state of the art interface. Even today, it works with the longest SCSI cables available (80 feet!)

However, that long distance and speed (faster than previous versions) came at a price: no compatibility. The voltages and pins must be electrically translated back to other versions of SCSI.
