First of all, thanks for taking the time to assist. Many thanks.

I currently have several Hot Plug drives:

Seagate Barracuda ST19171WC x 2
Compaq (Western Digital?) WDE9100-6008A8 x 2
Compaq (Quantum?) P/N 313706-B21 x 2

The controller is a Compaq Smart Array 2DH with the 16MB Accelerator Module.

I would like to install these into a home server but seeing that the drives lack a standard power connector, and adapter is needed.

I have located a conversion adapter that will take it down to either 69-Pin or 50-Pin and supply the needed connector. I was wondering if I could ask you for your thoughts on this project. Here are the specs on the adapter and also a link has been provided below:

Description:

SCA 80pin Dual Adapters IDC50pin Male and HPDB68pin Female With 9 Line Negation Termination!

FEATURES:

Converts SCA 80Pin Device to SCSI I/II IDC50Pin Male
OR Converts SCA 80Pin Device to SCSI III(uw) HPDB68Pin Female
Removable 9LNT For 80pin/50pin conversion over 4.5GB.
Adapter 80pin connector is female.
20% Slimmer Than Standard Dual SCA Adapters
4Pin Power Connector
SCSI ID Select 0 thru 15 - Jumpers & Instructions Included
Drive LED Activity, Motor Delay, and Sync Connectors
Compatible with SCA & SCA-2 80Pin SCSI Devices

A link to the adapter:

http://corporate.auctionworks.com/store/itemDetail.asp?sid=200209291246130000000001699273&sfid=21416&id=5087711

A link to the picture:

http://corporate.auctionworks.com/fullView.asp?nb=1&id=5087711&img=http://images.auctionworks.com/hi/50/49875/adapter.jpg

What do you think? Is there a more effiecint means of accomplishing this conversion? How about cabling, I was thinking 68 to 68?

Thanks again.

Kirk
