I would like to upgrade my Proliant 3000 (E39) to a Smart Array 431 and 188120-B22 drives (3 of them). Does my drive cage already support such an addition or do I need to purchase a new one? If a new one is necessary, what is the product number to order?

Thanks.

No - the standard cage for this particular system is designed for the older "Wide Ultra SCSI-x" type drives (beige colored trays). The 431 controller ONLY supports Ultra2/3 drives (black trays) and the drive you listed will also not fit in that old cage.

Do you have the serial number for that system? This can tell me whether there is a chance to use a newer cage or not...
