topic Hard drive errors in Disk

When booting up, the SCSI scans and see my Compaq HDD's. But, it reads device not ready and is unable to boot. Therefore, I have to load the w2k server cd and act as if I am installing the O/S. After it detects the HDD's from the CD, I F3 out of the cd and reboot. After that process, it detects the HDD's and boots up just fine. What can be the problem??? Is it my HDD? Or my SCSI controller? Or the board itself?

Tim,
try two tests:
1. machine works - you reboot - does it boot without problem?
2. machine works - you shutdown - power off (maybe unplugging power cable) - does it boot without problem then?
Eugeny
