    <description>I can't see what SiSoftware is doing.. No source code, so that makes it a mystery.&lt;BR /&gt;Perhaps you might try Iozone. (It free)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.iozone.org" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.iozone.org&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It comes with source code, and executables for&lt;BR /&gt;Windows and Unix systems. Iozone permits one to control exactly every parameter of a test, so it has meaning when your done :-)&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <title>Compaq Evo N800C disk i/o - poor performance problem</title>

      <description>I have a problem with minor disk I/O on a Compaq Evo N800C - 20 Gb disk running NTFS and an Intel 82801 CAM Ultra Ata storage controller 248A -&lt;BR /&gt;System info giving IDE controller mode :&lt;BR /&gt;Ultra DMA 5 currently running&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But in practice its slow, and test reveal&lt;BR /&gt;an average I/O of 8,6 Mbs only!&lt;BR /&gt;(see attachment)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Could anyone possibly suggest a source / solution to this problem?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks</description>
