Hello,

It depends on the disk. What is the part number of the disk in question? For the 2100, it should be a Ultra160 disk.

HTH,
Vince

Hi,
The 2100 is a JBOD disk system, the question is more if your server support the disk (I think it does). It is possible to mix U320 and U160 disks on the same bus , if your 73GB disk work then the 146GB also should work.

Hi , thank for your answers .
You mean : The real questions is if the OS will recognize the disk , or if the firmware will recognize it ?
Hi,

As your disk system is a JBOD the host will see all disk as separate physical disks.
If all devices and your HBA is compatible it should be no problem.
I am not sure about the product number for your disk but in general seagate U320 drives is backwards compatible with older SCSI standards and also support both LVD and SE mode.
You should note, if mixing LVD and SE devices on the same bus all devices is forced to operate in SE mode. In this case you will perhaps not get the full performance of a U320 disk.

The disk size is not a problem if you don't use a very old HP-UX. 10.20 and 11.x support larger disks then 146GB.

Adding non-HP disk inside HP devices may lead to unsupported configuration. Generally seagate disks will work, but hpux may have problems booting from the disks having non-HP firmware
Eugeny
